HIJABS & HAT-TRICKS
In 2014 SARI launched the Hijabs & Hat-tricks programme to specifically target young muslim women and girls to participate in football and to be active.
The development of the programme took an all-inclusive approach, extending to women of diverse religions and ethnicities.
This led to the creation of a football team, Diverse City FC.
The success of the programme led to recognition from Beyond Sport with a Best New Programme Award in 2015.
Training sessions take place every Thursday 7-8pm at St Laurence O’Toole Recreation Centre, Sheriff Street Lower, Dublin, D01 PD89.

In 2019 Amina Moustafa led an Erasmus+ programme ‘Step Up For Inclusion’ to Poronin, Poland with partners from five other countries across Europe. Amina was responsible for organising and reporting on the programme which was awarded a high mark by Leargas/EC.
Amina also led the SARI delegation to the Global Goals World Cup in Copenhagen in May. The SARI delegation were finalists and just missed out on winning a trip to the UN in NewYork.
Mahdiyah Ayub was chosen by the Michael Johnson Foundation to take part in the MJ Young Leaders programme in Dallas, Texas. The second year in a row that a SARI Young Leader was invited to participate in this programme.
Mahdiyah was also a Young Leader for the SARI delegation to Festival19 which was celebrated during the Women’s World Cup in Lyon.
Hijabs and Hat-tricks is supported by the FIFA Foundation and UNITE.
